On June 7, 2019, the NCSC Financial Crimes Team conducted civil asset recovery training for the FIU and FCIU in Bridgetown, Barbados. The session was interactive and designed to improve the officers’ knowledge of civil asset recovery and how to build civil recovery cases. There was a session on investigative tools, including Account Monitoring Orders, Customer Information Orders, Disclosure Orders and Unexplained Wealth Orders. Participants learned the process for making these applications, including who may make the application, the test to be established, the effect of the orders.
Participants partook in an interactive session on how to build a civil asset recovery case and began applying the knowledge to live cases in Barbados. FIU officers advised that there were many potential cases and they welcomed the assistance of the NCSC Financial Crimes Team to put these cases together.
